Description:

If you are an educator of parents of young children, such as an ECFE or Head Start teacher, or if you are a parent yourself, this free lesson can help you educate and learn about lessening the amount of toxins in your home for the sake of the family's health and the health of our waters. The lesson is geared towards helping parents identify and reduce the toxins in their home, especially cleaning products. It also shows the relationship between these products, the health of the family and water. It is easy to use and is a nice, casual way to learn about a topic that can be daunting.

The lesson contains an agenda, suggested handouts, items that you can borrow from the MN Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), and a list of further resources. The lesson can take between 35 and 45 minutes depending on the length of discussion and whether or not you use the Incredible Journey game from the MN Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
