Abstract:

Worms are important to the environment in ways that are difficult to see. With songs, footage and demonstrations, Mary Appelhof - the 'Worm Woman' - shows in close detail how worms aerate and fertilize the soil, and help nutrients get to plants. A short section demonstrates how to create a worm bin to reduce kitchen wastes, building on the 1982 book "Worms Eat My Garbage". Primarily for grades four through eight. Available for loan.
