Abstract:

Taped in Hopkins, Minnesota, this presentation from Dr. Paul Connett details his ideas on what an ideal integrated waste management system should look like. His ideas continue to be promoted today by the likes of William McDonough among others. Connett discusses the idea of 'trash' as the mixing of resources. He goes into depth about the landfill crisis that we're in and how it is a problem of space, leachate, organics, ethics, and politics. The answer, he argues, is primarily in source separation - including composting, recycling, reusing, and waste reduction
