Abstract:

The Lake Game teaches how to balance decisions related to water pollution, personal values and economics. In the game, a bucket of water representing a lake gradually becomes polluted and depleted. Players assume roles ranging from tourist to industrialist to homeowner. The game is designed to increase awareness about how lakes are used. They help show the competing demands of tourists, boaters, lake home owners, industry, and anglers. Players also learn that decisions on how to manage and protect lakes are difficult and require compromises.
