Abstract:

The Boulder Lake Environmental Learning Center (BLELC) is a day use center located 17 miles north of Duluth, Minnesota. The BLELC is part of the Boulder Lake Management Area which is a cooperative project among Minnesota Power, St. Louis County Land Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Forestry and Natural Resources Research Institute of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The BLELC vision is to be a "window" for various audiences to view full-scale, integrated natural resource management through the use of environmental education programs, facilities and public recreation opportunities.

BLELC offers a variety of middle school through professional level field programs in addition to classroom and schoolground programs, public programs and workshops. BLELC programs focus mainly on ecological research and natural resources. These programs develop decision-making, observation, and critical thinking skills while instilling respect for our natural history and heritage. If you have other ideas for programs, we will gladly work with to you to develop a specialized program.
