As a MOSS graduate student, you will use field-based educational activities to teach youth from Idaho and surrounding states about science and the environment, while also developing a wide array of professional skills that will help you make a difference in the workforce, and in the world.

Program highlights include:

  • Hands-on teaching experience in place-based environmental education and science communication with K-12 students and other audiences
  • Graduate level courses in ecology, place-based education, leadership, and science communication
  • Experience in outdoor science school and non-profit operations
  • Community living in a spectacular natural environment

MOSS values holistic thinking and diverse perspectives. Prospective graduate students with undergraduate degrees and/or relevant experience relating to natural resources, education, liberal arts, natural and social sciences, engineering, fisheries and wildlife, forestry, geography, outdoor recreation, ocean and marine science, environmental studies, and environmental science are encouraged to apply, but our program is inclusive and we thus seek sincere, hardworking, creative applicants from any background.
