Interpretive Naturalist 1-Intermittent


NOTE: This position has no set schedule. The hours will vary from month to month and may be for a tour, class, or overnight and may be during the day or evening, during the week or on weekends. There may be some months when there are no hours available. Generally, schedules are created two to six weeks out. There is not insurance benefits with this position.


This position assists in the implementation and development of education programs which include (but are not restricted to) overnight programs, Zoo Camps, early childhood, family, adult, and school programs. This position is responsible for promoting the importance of conservation, and the Minnesota Zoo’s mission of connecting people, animals and the natural world to save wildlife.


Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Present education programs as scheduled.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.
  • Integrate conservation messages into all education programming and experiences.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Natural Interpretation, Education, or closely related,
  • AND EITHER one year experience developing and/or implementing environmental/nature, socio-cultural, historical, or closely related programs at a zoo, nature center, or aquarium
  • OR 1 year experience as a teacher in a formal educational setting teaching biology, life science, or closely related course.


$19.46 - $28.15/hourly
