Position: Developer to take SEEK to WordPress

 

Background on MAEE

MAEE Mission: To support and advance environmental education throughout the state.

 

MAEE strengthens the role of education as a solution to our environmental and societal challenges. We serve environmental education (EE) professionals, students, K-12 educators, and their allies. We are a voice for environmental education. We advocate for environmental education. We connect environmental educators with each other.

 

Project

Enhance and promote the SEEK website as a comprehensive source of environmental education resources in Minnesota: http://seek.minnesotaee.org/. The contractor MAEE will work with will move the site to WordPress, a more efficient and effective platform.

 

Timeline

Start March/April 2019 (go through scope, sign contract)

Check in every two weeks

Launch Site May/June

Feedback/Fix bugs May/June (final payment)

 

Scope Requirements

  1. Search Bar (on header)

    1. WordPress Default Search or upgrade to Plug-in (SearchWP) based on cost

    2. Users on the front end can easily search through events, jobs, resources

  2. Resources

    1. Ability for users to submit resources, users can assign multiple taxonomies based on the resource they are submitting

      1. Resource search now: http://seek.minnesotaee.org/resource-search

    2. Resources will be saved in WordPress so that website administrators can moderate and approve

    3. Existing content is migrated to new site

  3. Calendar

    1. Ability for users to submit events, users can assign to a partner and region

    2. Events will be saved in WordPress so that website administrators can moderate and approve

    3. Existing content is migrated to new site

    4. Need to assign featured events to appear on homepage

  4. Job Board (new form needed)

    1. Ability for users to submit jobs, users can assign to an opportunity type, partner, and region

    2. Jobs will be saved in WordPress so that website administrators can moderate and approve

    3. Existing content is migrated to new site

  5. Partner List

    1. Build a custom page that pulls in all related content based on partner

      1. Related content from various post-types that is associated with ‘Partner’

    2. Ex: http://seek.minnesotaee.org/partners

  6. Destinations Tab (all events, destinations, and employment opps organized by region)

  7. Partner Log in

    1. No partner login because of new forms and Request to Edit form

  8. Create another form “Request to Edit” as a button that opens up a new form that can be used on events, resources, and job pages

  9. Design

    1. Research the layout of the site to look more modern

    2. MAEE and/or SEEK logo placement on banners
