The Minnesota Association for Environmental Education is seeking to fill 1 spot on our Board of Directors. MAEE is looking for board members who are passionate about supporting and advancing environmental education. In addition, we are looking for people with any of the following experience: nonprofit management, fundraising, EE legislation and policy, marketing, accounting, management, conference planning, or any forms of EE (formal, non-formal) not currently represented on the board.
The MAEE Board of Directors is made up of 10-12 directors. Board members must be volunteers and 18 years of age. Board terms are two years, with no more than three consecutive terms. Though workloads will vary depending on season and assigned duties, current board members estimate that an average of 5 hours/week is needed to complete their board duties. Duties of a board member include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare for and attend board meetings, held once every other month, plus one, two-day board retreat in January.
Attend the annual conference and contribute a silent auction item.
Be willing to learn and use technology such as Google Drive for document retention, Slack for board communications, as well as social media applications.
Help with the annual fund and make a small, personal donation to MAEE
Complete committee work in a timely fashion. Committees include Communications, Events, Advocacy, Awards and Scholarships, and Fundraising.
Help to recruit new board members based on the current needs of the board.

At this time, we are currently looking for to fill one opening to begin in April 2019. Interested candidates should have a strong communications background. The successful candidate will be working directly with our website (www.minnesotaee.org). Experience with WordPress required.
This position could be helping to source content for our monthly e-newsletter, updating resources on our website, posting jobs to the SEEK job board or posting events and articles to social media. Must have the ability to spend 15-30 minutes every other day, or 60 minutes once a week to keep up the the demands of updates. Successful candidates will be self-starters working mostly on their own, while cooperating with other board members and volunteers to complete tasks on a regular basis.
