The City of Lino Lakes takes significant pride in its efforts to reduce waste and promote recycling. The City is seeking a motivated individual to assist with a variety of community recycling programs and projects. These initiatives are aimed at promoting reuse, waste reduction, recycling, and community outreach. This position helps lead the City’s initiatives by organizing fix-it clinics, maintaining the organic recycling program, and promoting waste abatement education. This internship provides a great opportunity to be exposed to working with the public, planning and implementing recycling initiatives, collaborating with a disparate group of stakeholders, and learning waste management policy at the municipality level.
This is a part-time internship. Flexible hours M-F, one Saturday required a month for Recycling Saturdays, and occasional evenings as needed. Hourly rate of $12.00; no benefits.
High school diploma or equivalent, availability to work up to 29 hours per week, a valid driver’s license, and good driving record. Applicants should also possess, or be in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science related to Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
A highly organized individual with excellent time management and prioritization skills. Upbeat, friendly personality, who has the ability to get people excited about recycling. Good communication skills. Self-motivated, passionate about waste abatement, and enjoys motivating others to make a change.
