Kick off summer and celebrate the Year of the Bird with a visit to the oak savannas to learn about red-headed woodpeckers! You have an excellent chance of seeing many other bird species as well. Volunteers from the Habitat and Education Team of the Red-headed Woodpecker Recovery project will lead a birding hike to spot the woodpeckers, and will share information about our community-led study of this species. Meet your guide at the Fish Lake Nature Trails parking lot off Durant St. in East Bethel. We recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves and closed-toed shoes, and bringing your binoculars and your camera! (free, ages 10+)
